At the first table reads for Hamilton back in 2015, hip-hop tracks that made the musical a cultural phenomenon were taking shape. Another development happening? A romance between two of its original cast members, Anthony Ramos and Jasmine Cephas Jones. Both actors originated dual roles in the production. Ramos played John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, while Cephas Jones inhabited both Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds.

Meanwhile, Cephas Jones began her lengthy recap of the moment:
"My beloved Anthony,
On Christmas Eve you got down on one knee and proposed to me in front of my favorite castle in Arundel that I used to visit all the time as a child. It brought tears to my eyes because I don’t get to see my family in England that I’m so close with that much because we are an ocean away, but they got to witness this amazing event in our lives. And what a moment it was!!"
Ramos also shared a video of the lead-up to the proposal and the big moment itself on his YouTube channel.

In a recent BroadwayWorld interview Cephas Jones said, "I watched it with my fiancé Anthony, who is also in the show. We watched it together and my jaw was on the floor the whole time. You watch something like that and all your memories just flood through your brain."
During a radio conversation with Bevy Smith, the actress was asked about any challenges being in a relationship with a fellow artist. "I think it would be challenging if you don’t let yourselves have the freedom and understand that you both are creative people," Cephas Jones explained. "I think support and trust and love and constantly supporting that person and treating them loved in what they believe in and what they wanna do artistically. I think that’s the key when you’re artists. When ego gets thrown in there and all of that competitiveness, that’s where it can go downhill. But Anthony and I, we met working together and we love to work together."
