- What Anthony Ramos and Jasmine Cephas Jones' Body Language Means For Their Upcoming Marriage
Hint: Their six years of gushing over each other did them good.
Hamilton the musical brought its stars more than just critical acclaim and fame, it also sparked real romance—or, at least it did for Anthony Ramos and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
At an early table read in 2015, playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda noticed Anthony stealing glances at Jasmine, the cast’s newest member at the time. Fast forward three years, and the two got engaged on Christmas Eve at a castle in Arundel, one of Jasmine’s favorite places as a child.
"Thank you for saying yes to writing stories together for the rest of our lives. I'm honored and Blessed to marry you," the In The Heights star wrote on Instagram in 2018.
The two have shared the stage, the screen in Honest Thief and Monsters and Men, and racked up heaps of Grammy Awards (Jasmine also has an Emmy, bringing her to the EGOT halfway point!), but it’s the adventures fans don’t see that the couple gushes about the most. In interviews and Instagram captions, they reminisce about long conversations over tea, writing songs together, and dancing in Puerto Rico.
So, despite curating Instagrams that are basically shrines to one another, filled with snaps from their red carpet appearances and premieres, there's so much more to Anthony and Jasmine's relationship than meets the eye. And since asking the couple themselves probably won't be happening anytime soon, determining how deep their love goes is something really only an expert can pick up on.
That’s where Karen Donaldson comes in. The body language expert analyzed the couple’s every move and explained exactly what it means for their engagement and their forever together.
1
The couple has a super-deep connection.
"In this image, they are holding hands palm to palm, and their fingers are also interlocked, which tells us that they have a deep connection," says Donaldson. Skin-to-skin contact is always a major giveaway—especially when it's happening publicly, she points out.
Their hands are also giving off a few clues: "When holding hands, whoever's hand is crossing in front is often the more dominant person in the relationship," Donaldson points out. Now, whether this body language speaks to only this moment or their relationship as a whole... either way, Anthony doesn't seem to have much of a problem with Jasmine taking the lead, considering his engaging expression.
2
Jasmine's proud to be with Anthony.
Jasmine's hand on Anthony's torso is a biggie. Body language like this sometimes reads as possessive, but considering Jasmine's smile, her lean onto Anthony, and the fact that they're at the premiere for their film, Monsters and Men, Donaldson knows Jasmine is proud to be by Anthony's side. She's positioning her body as close to his as possible so they can take this moment in together.
3
Intimacy is a big deal in their relationship.
"Jasmine and Anthony are totally at ease with each other," says Donaldson about this sweet snap. And since it looks like Jasmine fits perfectly into Anthony's arms, it's likely that they cuddle like this a lot. When their many projects take them away from home, any moments they can share together are going to be touchy-feely.

They always make time for fun.
When Jasmine and Anthony carve out time to spend together, it's like there's no one else in the world. How does Donaldson know that? It's all in the angle of their bodies. While laughing together, both Anthony and Jasmine have turned their bodies toward each other's blocking out everything and everyone but the two of them.
5
Anthony loves being a support for Jasmine—if and when she needs it.
As Jasmine's list of projects gets longer, Anthony's only getting prouder and prouder. "She's a rock, man. She's a pillar," Anthony told People. "What's amazing is that she's doing it on her own, too. She's having her own moment."
And when she won her Emmy, he wrote, "...You rose from the flames like a Phoenix. Jasmine Cephas Jones. Fly Fly Fly 🔥🕊 Grammy and EMMY award winner... LES GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Anthony also proves he's Jasmine's biggest fan with his body language—particularly when he cuddles with her. "The 'big spoon' (the person behind or on the bottom), is usually the protector," says Donaldson. And it's one of the many ways Anthony shows his deep care for Jasmine, she adds.
6
He thinks the world of Jasmine.
"Here, Anthony is in full admiration mode," says Donaldson. "The one hand up and lean in tells us that he’s paying full attention to what Jasmine is saying and he totally wants to be there. His facial expression tells us that he adores her." And the way Jasmine is smiling though what she's saying also tells Donaldson that she loves how into her Anthony is. There's no idea she has that he's not fully invested in.
